Blue Ridge Parkway.
Just a few miles from downtown Asheville is the Blue Ridge Parkway.
It follows the crest of the Appalachians Mountains for 355 miles—from the Shenandoah Mountains to the north, ending in the Great Smoky Mountains. Along the way, there are hundreds of miles of trails, dozens of waterfalls and informative attractions. And the views. Oh, the views! Around every curve is another postcard waiting to be photographed. Of course, most people know of the BRP for its world-renowned fall leaf color display—just try finding a slot on the parkway during the height of the colors.
